The Association LATGA, which brings together over 7,000 authors from various fields, invites art lovers in Vilnius and visitors to the city to take part – not just as audience, but as participants – in the 8-hour interactive and immersive event “LATGA Authors’ home: Culture night 2025,” taking place in Vingriai Square for the fourth time.
During Culture night event, an impressive multi-level stage designed as a house will once again host film screenings, photography, drawing, sound studios, exhibitions, creative workshops, as well as performances in music, theater, and dance, along with live art interventions. Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, LATGA promises plenty of surprises for both participants and spectators. “We can’t imagine a better place or time to celebrate our birthday than this event, which has become a signature event of our organization and best reflects our mission – to strengthen and unite the author community, the most essential part of the cultural ecosystem, though often remaining behind the scenes due to the nature of their work. A birthday is a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to this community. That’s why, during the event, we will present the LATGA honorary Awards ‘Ad Astra’ to the authors who, according to our data, have most successfully brought their works to life both in Lithuania and abroad over the past five years,” reveals LATGA’s director Laura Baškevičienė. The awards ceremony, which will be a highlight of the event, will feature live performances of popular music from the past five years, presented by their authors or performers, accompanied by the Vilnius JJazz Ensemble led by well-known music author Jievaras Jasinskis.
In addition, the event will feature performances by BIX, The Roop, Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys, punktò, Justė Kraujelytė, Monika Pundziūtė, Raminta Naujanytė-Bjelle, and others. BIX leader Saulius Urbonavičius-Samas will invite visitors into an improvised 1990s-style recording studio and demonstrate how music albums were created back in the day.
Theatre will be represented by OKT Theatre, presenting the play The Dog and the Monkey (directed by Priit Pedajas). Choreographer Stefanija Nosovaitė will also appear with a special dance and painting performance. Unique performances will be presented by artists Monika Dirsytė and Urtė Jasenka.
Representing the visual arts, Solveiga Gutautė and Evelina Simanavičiūtė will host creative workshops. The LATGA home will also include a photo studio run by a well-known photographer Algimantas Aleksandravičius, while acclaimed animation director, artist, and screenwriter Ilja Bereznickas will draw caricatures upon visitors’ requests.
The authors’ house-stage will have two cinemas. In the virtual reality cinema, visitors will experience VR projects inspired by the works of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis – Trails of Angels (dir. Kristina Buožytė) and The Creation of the Worlds (dir. K. Buožytė and Vitalijus Žukas). The Lithuanian short film agency, Lithuanian Shorts, will curate a special program of Lithuanian films specifically for this event. Additionally, “Animatest” animation workshops will be hosted.
As usual, at the event, numerous authors from various fields will not only perform their own or others’ previously created works but also create, improvise, and collaborate with each other in real time. The audience will be able not only to watch the live action unfolding on the big screens inside the stage-house but also to step inside this highly artistic stage-house to see their favorite author’s performance or creative process up close – and even participate in it! The event program may change slightly, and information will be continuously updated. The schedule of author performances will be announced later.
